Tiffany Emmanuel „Manu“ Verneuil

80x120cm

‘Tiffany’ (Breakfast at Tiffany's), Manu Verneuil, Hamburg 2023, 80x120cm, acrylic/mixed media on canvas,

Colour scheme: silver on black, framed with shadow gap in silver look 🟢

In the large-format version, this work is part of a (silver) series of iconic subjects and is characterised by its familiar style. Using multiple layers of a mixture of acrylic paint, marble dust and some chemical additives, the subject rises up from the silky black background and thus gives the impression of a relief-like figurative representation. In addition, a few applied broken glass glitters round off the elegant impression.

Motivation and creation; The creation was based on the idea of applying the technique to iconic subjects, resulting in a series of famous people (including Lagerfeld, Steve McQueen and Bardot).

The title ‘Tiffany’ (Breakfast at Tiffany's from 1961) was obvious because the British-Dutch Audrey Hepburn (1929-1993), in the role of Holly Golightly, was certainly the epitome of this film. A film that made the book of the same name by Truman Capote, combined with the music by Henry Mancini and directed by Blake Edwards, probably one of the most famous films of its time.
