This painting is a symbolic display of how usually marriage ends.
The two bird forms are not looking at each other and they are trapped into a closed form. This closed form (their marriage bond) is surrounded by playful forms and heart shapes. These forms represent the happy image that is usually shown to the rest of the world. But in reality, it's a failed marriage.
