Overlooked subtleties, 2021, nature, winter, blue, branches Juanita Bellavance

6 x 6 inches

For so long I did not appreciate winter scenery where all we could see was trees and branches without leaves. When spring begins I’m thrilled as the leaves and colorful flowers begin to appear.

This painting was created in summer but now I notice it has appeared from my memory of how intriguing the thin, empty branches create all sorts of shapes with their gnarly meandering.

It reminds me of a misty early morning visit on a day when rain is in the forecast. I love these days because there is so much solitude outside by a river on a cold day in winter.
